Stop Writing! respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (17 U.S.C. § 512), we will respond to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement.
Filing a DMCA Notice
If you believe your copyrighted work has been infringed on Stop Writing!, send a written notice to our designated agent (below) that includes:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- The URL or specific location of the allegedly infringing material.
- Your address, telephone number, and email.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
Counter-Notice
If you believe content was removed in error, you may file a counter-notice to the designated agent with:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the removed material and its prior location.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, phone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district.
Repeat Infringers
We terminate the accounts of users determined to be repeat infringers.
False Claims
Knowingly filing a false DMCA claim is a federal offense and may result in liability for damages, costs, and attorneys' fees under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
